Technical Assistance and Capacity Building on Technological Evaluation of some Industrial Minerals to be used as Stabilizers and Flux for Glass Industry in Thua Thien Hue Province, Central Vietnam

This year, in the Thua Thien Hue province in central Vietnam continues a three-year long project of the Czech development cooperation, focused on the development of the glass industry within this region.

The project is built on results of previous Czech development cooperation in 2006-2010 and 2012, which resulted in the assessment of the industrial size deposit of high-quality silica sand in Phong Dien district. The main objectives include evaluation of the economic importance of local raw materials necessary for the production of glass batch and the strengthening of technical and professional capacities of partner organizations of the State Geological Survey of Vietnam (GDGMV) and its subsidiary - Northern Central Division in the Vinh City.

In November 2013 specialists from the Czech implementing company GET submitted final reports of the exploration of the feldspar, limestone and dolomite raw material to the representatives of the partner organization GDGMV. At the same time presentation of this results was held at GDGMV headquarter in Hanoi and in Hue University of Sciences for experts from the state geological survey, for the staff of the provincial government and local government, other professionals and students of geological disciplines.

The project has significant support from the key institutions in Vietnam, especially from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Industry and from People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province.
