Article on Industrial Minerals in Belize
In the September issue of the journal MINERÁLNÍ SUROVINY („Mineral Raw Material”) was published the article "Newly Verified Occurrences of Industrial Minerals in Belize" (with English Abstract). The magazine is the official journal of the Mining Union, the Professional Association of mining organizations.
Belize is a small Central American country of which the principal economic sectors are agriculture, tourism and the food industry. Among the mineral raw materials is the most significant oil, which in recent years has become a major export item. Exploitation of other mineral resources has only a limited scope; gold is mined to a limited extent and of the industrial minerals so also are limestone, dolomite and gravel.
